Commitment for Life exists to give your church an opportunity to get involved in, and challenged by, global justice issues. By linking with campaigns, partners and projects through Christian Aid and the World Development Movement, you can make a difference to the lives of some of the world’s poorest people. Commitment for Life is a network of United Reformed Churches committed to praying, giving and campaigning for change.

So what do you need to do?

  Make a decision at your church meeting to become a 
    Commitment for Life church
  Choose a focus partner country (Bangladesh, Jamaica, 
    Zimbabwe and Israel and the Occupied Palestinian
    Territories)
  Appoint a link person
  Relay your decision to the programme Co-ordinator or
    Administrator.

How we will then support you

Every individual participating church matters to the program. We will put you in touch with your nearest  advocate who is ready to help you in whatever way they can.

Commitment for Life
is about campaigning for a just world.

We are currently involved in:-

Fairtrade  Every encouragement is given to churches to use not  only Fairtrade tea and coffee but to move forward in the use of other Fairtrade products and take the message out to their local community www.fairtrade.org.uk

Trade Justice We are members of the Trade Justice Movement which is supported by 60 leading UK aid agencies and churches. TJM campaigns to change the current rules on trade, which are weighted against the poor.  www.tjm.org.uk

Jubilee Debt Campaign continues to highlight the unfinished business of debt and conditionality, including trade liberalisation that countries have to accept in order to qualify for debt relief. See www.jubileedebtcampaign.org.uk  

Israel/The Occupied Palestinian Territories We continue to share information. Through ‘Moving Stories’ which tells stories of hardship and courage and tries to understand the current  political situation whilst advocating peace.

HIV/AIDS. We continue to focus on HIV/AIDS, especially around World AIDS day, 1st December.

Climate Change. We are part of th Stop Climate Coalition and are called to reach out wherever we see need. We know many are already feeling the effects of climate change and do not have the resources to make changes. www.operationnoah.org
