Ministers Get Together

September 2009 Report & Pictures

Many of our Synod ministers gathered together at Westminster College over 9-11th September to start preparing for the Vision4Life prayer year that begins in Advent 2009.  The intention was to give ministers the opportunity to be introduced to some of the materials that will form part of the V4L prayer year resource booklet as well as some of the online materials that will accompany the year.

Alongside of this were times of worship, reflection and personal space as well as opportunity to share personal experiences of prayer in different forms and settings.

Ian Fosten lead the sessions based on the V4L materials with the worship being led by John Hardaker and myself on the theme of “God’s amazing and faithful love”.

We were especially blessed to listen to and share in Sheila Maxey’s “Travellers tales” in which Sheila shared some of her experiences of ministry, prayer and life in an amazingly honest, humble and heartfelt way.

These special times seemed to give the rest of us permission to share our experiences in an equally open way within a trusting and supportive group of people. This in turn led to us learning much from each other that will be carried forward into our ministries.

Prayer can often seem a mysterious maze to be encountered in a wide variety of ways. My hope is that this get together has helped to both prepare and enthuse our ministers for the year ahead and that our churches will be as willing to engage with the V4L initiative as our ministers are.
