A Resource for Children's Workers

Peacebuilders – Children for Peace is a programme of church partners in India and the UK, working together and sharing what we know about the ingredients of peace and how to take steps towards it.
Starting with groups of children we aim to use our enthusiasm for peace and our belief that we can take steps that make more peace day by day. Learning about peace builds understanding and commitment to justice and co-operation.

One resource idea The Peace Box will give us practical steps to take in our own lives, in our communities and in the world.  At our URC General Assembly 2007 children and young people gathered messages into Peace Boxes which were given to Synod Moderators to be taken to Autumn Synods. A Peace Box was also sent to David Deeks General Secretary of the Methodist Church who received it at their Conference

This is a brand new innovative resource which takes the church into its community to explore what practical steps children, young people and adults might be prepared to take to build peace in the neighbourhood and nation.
“We often teach children about peace, but letting them take a lead could be just what communities need”
Doug Swanny Methodist Church Children’s Work Development Officer.

The resource offers 36 pages of ideas and activities and churches are being encouraged to set up Peacebuilders groups,
Henry Playle Synod CYDO is available to help churches to do this.
