Landfill Community Fund grants
I have
been advised that such ‘grants’ might have a condition attached
such that, in order to secure the grant, a legal charge needs to
be set up on the property in perpetuity rather than on a fixed
term of say 80 years, akin to a shared equity scheme. It also
seems that this fact is not publicised anywhere on their
websites. The implication of this is that the environmental body
would be entitled to a percentage share of the property’s sale
proceeds when sold.
If you
are trying to secure a grant from a landfill community fund,
please obtain written evidence that this perpetuity period does
not apply. Such a condition does not apply to the Anglican
church for example.
