SYNOD OFFICE TEAM

 
 

SUE DRANE - Website Administrator & Secretary

Sue keeps our website up to date and is responsible for our day to day communication within the Synod. She will usually answer the phone if you ring: 01223 830770 but it will help if you know who you want to speak to. E-mail is now used wherever possible but if your church really still needs papers posted we will try our best not to leave you out.  Sue is the office typist/secretary and will provide secretarial support for 'advocates' when requested. Please contact Sue to book the Conference Room should you need it or arrange for documents to be copied. Sue also looks after the Synod Gas Contract.

PAUL WHITTLE - Moderator



As Moderator Paul deals with a range of matters pertaining to ministers and churches i.e. the candidating process, pastoral matters, deployment and vacancies.

Paul is also closely involved with all ecumenical matters and
links with the wider church.


 

LINDA HACK - Moderator's PA

Linda is PA to the Moderator, keeping the Moderators diary and thus she is the person you need if you want to invite the Moderator to your church or talk to the Moderator on issues of pastoral concern. Linda is also the Candidating Secretary, she maintains the Synod database and is responsible for the Yearbook. Linda also supports the Training Team

 

PETER BALL - Training & Development Officer

Peter joined the team on January 1st 2008 having been a Minister in our Synod. The TDO also has oversight for Mission across the Synod. The work of the TDO is to stimulate and encourage growth within the local churches and Elder's meeting. The TDO organises the provision of post-ordination and in-service education and training for Ministers. He will work closely with the Moderator and the CYDO and be accountable to the Synod Pastoral Committee. He also plays an active role on the Synod Mission Committee.

HENRY PLAYLE - Children's & Youth Development Officer

Henry our CYDO, will also be accountable to the Synod Pastoral Committee and work closely with both Peter and the Moderator. The CYDO works with churches promoting, encouraging, supporting and developing existing work and exploring new ways of engaging with children and young people.
Henry oversees Safeguarding Children and Young People and is also one of the two Synod Safe Church Advisors.

PENELOPE DAVIES-BROWN - Resources Officer

Penelope Davies-Brown As the Resources Officer, Penelope should be your first point of contact for all new enquiries for Finance and Property matters. This is a new role created to meet the increasingly detailed support needs for Finance and Property, replacing the previous secretarial role. Penelope will also be managing the Synod Manse Scheme on a day to day basis.
She will be able to advise you on what process to follow and where to get the forms. She will keep a database of requests for Grants, Loans and Project Requests and act as secretary to the Synod Resources Committee and as Minute Secretary to the Trust Company directors Meetings.

ANDREW PERKINS - Finance Officer

Andrew is the Finance and Trust Officer of both the Synod and the Trust Companies and serves as the Office Manager for the Synod office. Andrew manages all the Synod’s financial and Trust affairs using computer based systems and the Resources Officer helps to keep these systems working when Andrew is out of the office.  Andrew also has responsibility for Sharing Agreements and office insurance.

 

GORDON HEALD - Property Officer

Gordon is Synod Property Officer, a part time role that has grown but now has support from the Resources Officer and two Field Property Officers in Essex and in suffolk/Norfolk, whilst fulfilling that role in Cambridge. Field Property Officers will be able to offer a wealth of experience of both church and property matters, offering an increased level of support to local churches in respect of their buildings. The Property Officer urges churches to ensure that contact is made with the Resources Officer in the early stages of planning any building alterations or tenancies and leases.

SHANNON CRAIG - Field Property Officer


Shannon Craig
Field Property Officer Shannon Craig has been appointed to support the Resources Team: for Essex. He will be able to offer a wealth of experience of both church and property matters.  This new way of working will offer an increased level of support to local churches in respect of their buildings.

 

MICK BARNES - Field Property Officer



Field Property Officer Mick Barnes has been appointed to support the Resources Team: for Suffolk and Norfolk. He will be able to offer a wealth of experience of both church and property matters. This new way of working will offer an increased level of support to local churches in respect of their buildings.

 

LINDA HARRISON - Synod Clerk

Linda took up the role in January 2010. The relationship of the Clerk to the churches of the Synod is similar to that of a Church Secretary to the congregation. The Clerk interacts with all the activities of Synod to enable the witness of the local church, promoting networking across the Synod. The role includes: arrangements for Synod meetings; constitutional structures of Synod and its committees; Synod appointments and delegations; ensuring information is shared; and concern for the Synod Office.

RON WADE - Synod Treasurer

 

As Treasurer Ron is Convener of the Resources Committee and all that flows there from - including Budgets, Accounts and Property matters.
