yfcCambridge & District YFC was founded in 2001 with the aim of "taking good news relevantly to every young person in Cambridge and District". We're an independant local charity, here to encourage the churches in the city and surrounding area into effective youth ministry.

We're one of 64 chartered centres of British Youth for Christ, operating in towns and cities across the UK. Our head office provide support staff, national mission teams and more to help us in our work. YFC was launched in 1946 by the evangelist Billy Graham, whose original vision statement was: "Geared to the times, anchored to the Rock". Now headed up by Gavin Calver, YFC is aiming to be working with "a million young people every month".

CURBS (Children in Urban Situations)

Believing that all children are created in God's image, CURBS starts in the world of the urban child and, through positive relationships, seeks to build bridges which will enable them to experience God's loving care.

CURBS has 3 main aims:

  • To promote an approach to working with children which starts in their world, recognises their developmental needs and values their spirituality.
  • To provide Christian resources for inner city children and those on outer urban estates for use in church-linked Sunday, mid-week, holiday activities and similar settings.
  • To provide support, training and encouragement for children's workers in such areas by means of training and resource days, networking and partners.

GENR8

GenR8jpg

GenR8 was established in 2001 as a single team of 5 volunteers to bring entertaining, high quality assemblies with a Christian ethos to local primary schools. There are now several teams working in Cambridgeshire and North Hertfordshire, with further affiliate teams in King's Lynn and Melton Mowbray.

GenR8 became a registered charity in March 2010 and is an associate body of Scripture Union. At the heart of GenR8 are volunteers. There are over 60 volunteers involved with GenR8; all are committed Christians from different denominations in the local community and have experience of working with children in schools or church settings. Many volunteers have professional qualifications in relevant disciplines.

School assemblies are the core of GenR8's work and in a typical term GenR8 presents to over 30,000 children (approximately 100 primary schools). Find out more about what GenR8 does by browsing the webiste link below 'What We Do' section.

Duggie Dug Dug

duggie-dugThese are really fun events! They are a fast moving mixture of action songs, break dancing, funky dance tracks, tricks, illusions, hilarious puppets and sign language songs. With lots of audience participation and a hefty measure of fun and laughter thrown in, they make for a colourful and exciting celebration that your kids ( and grown ups) will talk about for years!

Doug believes that there is something very wholesome about having fun together as family, and where-ever possible he likes to gear the praise parties as family events. They are also a great opportunity to bring unsaved family and friends along to as well. They'll have a fun time and it's an ideal evangelistic event.
