Companions needed

We need more companions for the campaign of radical welcome!

Message from the Campaign organisers:campaign-of-radical-welcome-video

We need as many Companions as possible, as quickly as possible, and we thought that one great way to attract them would be to make a short recruitment film. So we did! And here’s the link to the YouTube video (click the back key in your browser when you have watched the video):

Website: http://youtu.be/1v-qpqy3ZZM

Please watch the film (it’s only a couple of minutes long) and think about whether being a companion is for you.

Please consider it carefully yourself – and even if you decide it’s not for you – please help cascade it through the denomination by sending it on to at least three URC people today! If, after viewing the film, you have any queries about any aspect of the companion’s role, please e-mail me (Fiona Thomas) or get in touch with your Synod Campaign Co-ordinator (Linda Harrison)

For more information about the Campaign, view the website or contact Fiona or Linda by e-mail.

China - Short Term Service Opportunities

China Dreams - Are you interested in working in China? This could be your Opportunity.

AMITY TEACHERS’ PROGRAMME
Do you have:

A degree or recent teaching certificate?
2 years (with the option of more)?
An appetite for teaching in less developed areas of China?

The Amity teaching programme places Christian teachers of English into Chinese teacher-training colleges. Recent Amity teachers have included young graduates, experienced teachers and professionals who have taken early retirement. Teachers are encouraged to contribute to in-service learning training for Chinese teachers, cooperating with the provincial Institutes of Education.

Successful candidates have all their training, flights and insurance costs covered. Teachers also receive a Chinese salary and accommodation is provided by the college. Recruitment for the Teaching Programme starts in December with interviews in February and briefings in April for appointments beginning the following August.

Youth Work Advocate

Eastern Synod Youth Work Advocate The Eastern Synod Youth Work Advocate will be appointed by the Synod Meeting to work with the Children and Youth Development Officer (CYDO) and alongside the Synod Children’s Work Advocate.

In previous years there has been a single role of Children’s and Youth Work Secretary, but it is recognised that the skills and focus are different and may be carried out to better effect if Advocates are appointed to each of these areas of work.
