We don't think we have all the answers, and we're not looking to sell you anything. You definitely don't have to be a person of faith to be a part of what we do. You don't even have to believe anything, but we will talk about God, the universe and everything. On the 22nd June back in 2009 a group of young idealistic risk takers sat in an Ipswich waterfront café wondering if anyone would turn up to the opening night of their new joint venture the ‘LINK’. They had planned a weekly space for young adults to meet up, listen to music, and talk about things like God and the universe. They wanted to reach out into the town and be very relationship and community focused, providing a place where non-Christians would feel welcome.
PRESENCE Faith on the Street
PRESENCE aims to be a creative response to the spiritual needs of Ipswich town centre.
We are a group of Christians from different Churches from around Ipswich. We gather once a month in the town centre to be a 'creative witness' for Christ. Which means we carry out imaginative themes to capture the public's attention, which ultimately points them to Jesus?
For Example - In September we ran a Street Harvest Festival and gave away free fruit and vegetables to bless people and encourage us all to be more thankful for the good things in our lives. We also asked people what characteristic from the 'Fruit of the Spirit' they most needed and offered to pray for them.

I arrived at the beautiful surrounds of Sizewell Hall, a Christian conference centre on the Suffolk coast, to help Halesworth & Bramfield URC look at being '21st Century Church' on their weekend away. After an initial meeting with Rev. Dennis Simmons and Rev. Don Nichols to discuss what was needed in the churches and how I might help them, we came up with the theme of 'Being a Mission Shaped Community'My overall aim was to take the congregations on a journey looking at the ever-changing nature of our society's culture and its communities and exploring why the church needs to rethink its approach to those communities in meaningful and relevant ways.

The Collective - Suffolk New College (SNC)
New for this term at Suffolk New College is: The Collective. This is a place for students to meet Christians, a space to be with friends and a chance to chat about life. We meet on a weekly basis to encourage one another, to explore spirituality, as well as reflect and apply it to life. In practice, it involves food, discussion, music, film clips, etc.
Since I have been volunteering in the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy at the College, it has opened up opportunities for new initiatives that link with other Christian groups around Ipswich.

SANCTUARY Carboot Project
Watch now... on Youtube
Walking past the churches in the Westgate area of Ipswich on a Sunday morning you can see and hear the evidence of Christians at worship. Whether it’s the many cars parked on the roads, the queues of people streaming into the doors, or the joyous music spilling out onto the streets. But walk a bit further down Portman road until you’re in the shadow of the football stadium and you’ll experience an altogether different weekly gathering. There are piles of clothes, boxes of toys, stacks of crockery, knick-knacks, old tools, rescued furniture… you name it and you’ll probably find it there amongst the different faces and languages around the stalls and pitches.
SANCUTARY’s aim is to be a place of Blessing, Healing and Peace. We do this by: offering prayer; inspiring and challenging people with free resources and Christian literature in a range of languages; facilitating stimulating activities on the stall; and selling items to raise funds for Kagera Link - North West Tanzania.
