One of the roles of the Mission and Training Officer is to help equip the local church to face the challenges of the 21st century. He is available to assist churches in looking at how to be missional in their local context and to offer support in all aspects of local church life, from communion training to running church weekends and Elders awaydays.
The Mission and Training Officer produces focus booklets annually, to resource and equip the local church in various areas of mission. So check what is here. These booklets are intended to be able to be used by Elders, Church Meeting or individuals . The Mission and Training Officer is available to help any local church or Area Partnership to look at the topics of these booklets in more depth.
The ATOM booklet was produced in 2005, but we feel this may still be a worthwhile reference book for those looking for some advice on offering ministry all together.
The URC is made up of its local churches, each with members, an Elders' and Church Meeting. More information can be found on the URC website by clicking on the links below. Each church will review its purpose and mission through the Local Mission and Ministry Review procedure, using Vision2020 as a framework to help that review and their study through Vision4Life to help the congregation to engage with their faith and their mission in the local community.
The Synod Mission and Training Officer works with churches through these initiatives and other resources. Along with the Synod Pioneer Minister help with exploring Fresh Expressions is also available.
